What is wisdom tooth extraction?

  • The wisdom teeth are the last teeth to grow out at the back of your mouth, usually between the ages of 17 and 25.

  • Examination – including 3D X-rays if needed: First, we assess the position of the wisdom tooth in your mouth. We explain the procedure in detail and answer all your questions.
  • Local anaesthesia – the injection site is first covered with a gel so that the injection does not hurt. The tooth extraction is done under local anaesthetic so you won't feel any pain.
  • Removing the wisdom tooth – the dentist carefully removes the wisdom tooth while ensuring your comfort throughout the procedure. In some cases, the tooth may be divided into smaller sections to allow for a safer and less traumatic extraction.
  • Treating the wound – once the tooth is out, we clean the site and, if necessary, stitch it up with a few stitches. These stitches will usually dissolve on their own.
